Mogo Zoo

On Sunday 27th May 2012 our bird club went to Mogo Zoo. We waited outside the zoo before we went into the zoo.
Before the first talk we had a look at the Tamarins and Marmosets. There were two types of the small primates that had babies. They were the Cotton Top Tamarins and the Pygmy Marmosets.
Our first talk was the Silvery Gibbons. At that time they had two babies. One was almost at adulthood, the other one was a few months old (really small).
Then we had the Tiger talk. The lady told us about the Tigers while she was feeding it. At the end she got the Tiger to stand against the wire so we could get a photo. Then we went to have a look at the other Tigers and the Lions. They have three Tiger cages and two lion cages. They have an older tiger which is a female, then they have another cage which has the breeding pair in it and they have the other cage with three babies (not really babies any more) and their mum. The lion cages are on the other side of the platform. One has a brother and sister and the other has a brother and two sisters.
Then we had the Otter talk. We were there a bit before the talk started so we waited and watched the Otters run around and swim. Then the talk started. The Otters were very well trained. She showed us what tricks they could do and a bit about their species. She had a bucket of food to give them when they did a trick. Before we got there we had a look at the Meerkats and the Fennec Fox.
Then we had the White Lion talk. The male wasn't white but the two females were. He led the lions back and forth and fed them every now and then. Before we got to the White Lion enclosure we had a look at some Deer and more Tamarins and Marmosets.
Then we had a look at all the other animals. In the first enclosure we went past there were Zebras and Giraffes. We passed just before they had Giraffe feeding. Then we went past the Ostriches and then we had a look at the Tapirs, more White Lions and the Primate Islands which had Gibbons, Lemurs (two types) and Spider Monkeys.
Then we had lunch. My family had hot chips. Then we had the raffle. I didn't win. Then we went back to the other part of the zoo and had a look at the Servals and Snow Leopards. I liked the meerkats the most.
Then we went home.
